Week 6 Reading Questions

HE MIGHT BE GIANT
Is it the fate of successful anti-consummerist design to eventually become commercial gold. Or can this fate be stopped by the control of the original designer?

GUERRILLA STREET POSTERING
How could guerilla postering be brought into the year 2012 and capitalize on modern technology?

ADBUSTER
How would a designer objectively determine the cost of something? What are the unit of measurement?

    1. seems incredibly hard to produce something counter-cultural or revolutionary, whether an idea, movement, or product, that is not eventually co-opted by mainstream commercial culture. it seems like mass culture thrives on the symbols of rebellion or coolness (which is usually watered-down rebellion or creative inventiveness) rather than the actual thing -- the signifier vs the signified. being able to insulate one's ideas from that process would be gold in my opinion.

    2. look at eyebeam studios in nyc or the graffitti research lab (related to eyebeam).
